Mido was established in 1918 and has made many contributions to the watchmaking industry including the aquadura waterproofing system (resulting in the 'King of Waterproof Watches' moniker) and the first centre chronograph. Perhaps above all else, Mido have managed to produce designs which have proven to be timeless classics; the Commander being a good example - introduced back in 1959 this model continues to be produced and its distinctive look is recognised worldwide.
For a mid range watch, Mido offers excellent value for money given the specification to price ratio. High quality materials and upgraded movements ensure a product that the wearer can be proud of.

Features of all Mido automatic movements:
Mido utilises ETA calibres (mainly 2824 and 2836) as do many Swiss manufacturers. However, Mido is one of the few mid range watches which use upgraded/adjusted versions, thus:
-
adjusted in three positions for higher precision than 'off the shelf' calibres
-
high quality Nivaflex NE mainsprings
-
Incabloc shock protection on balance
-
decorated winding rotor
Chronometer rated and certified movements are available in some models; these come with individually numbered certificates. |
Features of Mido automatic chronograph movements:
The well proven and reliable Valjoux/ETA 7750 is used in Mido chronographs; once again, the specification is above the basic 7750 with the following features:
- adjusted in three positions
- Nivaflex NE mainsprings and Nivarox I hairsprings
- Glucydur balance wheels
- decorated winding rotor with Geneva stripes and engraved Mido logo, blued screws and pearled bridges
